My sweet Jaxson has been a difficult eater his entire life. The occupational therapists insisted over and over that including him in cooking would help his eating habits. My immediate thought?
I procrastinated, made excuses, and did whatever I could to forget that suggestion. Except it kept getting suggested to me. So I finally gave in.
We started off slowly.
I'd do everything and then let my little cutie come and stir the pot. He of course loved it!
The twins are usually at my feet when I'm in the kitchen so it wasn't long before Jaxson would stand on my feet until I'd pick him up to let him get a little earlier start on the cooking.
We progressed to pouring in teaspoons of seasoning before it was time to stir. The pure joy on his face was precious!
Pretty soon Jaxson would come running when he heard me starting to cook. He was getting old enough (now that...
Twin shenanigans... they’ve barricaded themselves in the bathroom! What are they flushing now?! I think they’re doing payback now that I’ve moved their potty chair to the bathroom instead of the living room!
Every day we have the choice whether to get angry with our kids being kids, or learn to laugh. This was a valuable skill that I learn inside Mom Mastery University. There was a time that I wouldn't have laughed about this. In fact I probably would've yelled and given time out. Then I would've felt like a horrible mom, beat myself up about how I acted and how I was ruining my kids.
Sound familiar?
Maybe some of you are in this spot too. If you are, my heart goes out to you! You are not alone! And you are not doomed to stay in this emotional place forever!
There is help out there for moms in a beautiful program called Mom Mastery University!
After learning so much from that program, I can see all the crazy stuff my kids do (especially the twins! wow, they have a...
This week is Thanksgiving and is always a time that we make a conscious effort to reflect on the things we are thankful for in our lives. This year, I'd like you to not only be thankful for what you know you already have but also for the dreams / vision that God has given you for your life. And while you may be wondering why you would be thankful for something that hasn't happened yet (and may seem like it will never happen), in the heavenly realm it has in fact already happened and we are just waiting to see it manifest in our lives.
Have you ever been told by someone that they are sending you money? That they are writing a check and will put it in the mail? (Like money as a birthday gift or payment for something you are selling.) Did you question whether that check would really come in the mail? Probably not. Likely, you started planning what you were going to do with the money as soon as it arrived.
The same is true for the dreams (aka goals or...
November begins a whirlwind of birthdays in our house. We celebrate 4 birthdays plus Christmas all in 7 weeks! Sheesh. To say our budget takes a hit during this time of year is an understatement! Not to mention the cost of party planning. So what's a mom to do?!
In the past our budget has always been the number one priority for me because time wasn't really an issue. Now that I have twin babies, making 4 kids total, I have no time and am learning how to balance time without sacrificing money. Why? Because it seems that there is always a trade off - if you don't want to spend time then you'll spend more money (think meal planning vs going out to eat). And if you don't want to spend money, you'll inevitably spend more time planning.
But what if you don't want to sacrifice either? Spend as little time as possible and as little money as possible? Does that seem like a pipe dream? Well it's not! It's all about starting your preparation insanely...
